Some time ago, I remember telling myself that I wouldn't spend money ingame except to get membership. I gave in to the temptation and bought banks. This is especially crucial if you are a long-term quester/player with a large amount of OSRS gold non-tradeable goods or items that are hard to recover when dropped.
The music boxes make star mining much more enjoyable for me and my buddies. However, there are some really rare things in treasure hunter that I would like to have, such as the divination uniform, I won't purchase spins.
In regards to certain rewards on the spinnys I do recall Mod Mark saying he was not happy with the silverhawk boots, which were an obvious ingame advantage. It would be boring to just walk around with no ability to move. It is best to keep the essence of the game, and not create more.
Someone mentioned that they were a completeist. I'm not sure anyone is able to complete all the games unless they invest money into spins and/or are uberloaded in game. You can also buy bonds in-game for spins and you can also get lucky spinning. It's difficult to buy RuneScape gold finish these rares today.
